About the opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assistant to support our quality assurance processes by managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), liaising with customers regarding repairs, maintaining accurate records in SAP, and assisting with engineering change management and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs). The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with quality standards, improving process efficiency, and maintaining strong communication between internal teams and external stakeholders.

Main Duties:

  • Raise, track, and manage internal and external NCRs, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate corrective actions.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and work with relevant teams to implement preventive measures.

  • Maintain NCR records, ensuring compliance with quality management system (QMS) requirements.

  • Generate reports and provide insights on NCR trends for continuous improvement.:

    Customer Liaison & Repairs Coordination:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding product quality concerns and repairs.

  • Coordinate repair and rework activities, ensuring timely resolution in alignment with customer expectations.

  • Provide updates on repair status and work closely with production and engineering teams to implement solutions.

  • Ensure customer requirements are met while aligning with company quality standards.

    SAP controls and Updates:

  • Maintain and update SAP records for material specifications, Bill of Materials (BOM), and routing changes.

  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy in SAP to support production planning and material management.

  • Work closely with engineering, production, and procurement teams to process and validate change requests.

  • Assist in audits and compliance checks to verify SAP documentation aligns with operational processes.

    Quality and Engineering support:

  • Action Engineering Change Notes (ECNs) by updating relevant documents, processes, and records.

  • Manage and process Concessions/Deviations, ensuring proper approvals and documentation.

  • Assist in the preparation of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to verify compliance with customer and industry requirements.

  • Work with engineering and quality teams to ensure product conformity and process improvements.

    Key Requirements:

    Education & Experience:

  • Previous experience in quality assurance, manufacturing, or engineering environment preferred.

  • Working knowledge of SAP (or similar ERP systems) for material and process control.

  • Experience handling NCRs, concessions, deviations, and FAIRs is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with engineering change management and documentation processes.

North West Aerotooling is currently recruiting a Quality Inspector based at one of our bespoke Engineering facilities in Dukinfield Manchester. As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for  inspecting jobs at various stages of the manufacturing process (1st off, final inspection and FAIR inspection) in line with customer requirements (capture specific measurements from customer requirements).

Ideally you will have:

  • Excellent communications skills are imperative.

  • Must have good team working ethic, be highly pro-active and motivated.

  • Ability to read and interpret 3D Models & 2D drawings.

  • Experience in CMM/Inspection Arm software. Ideally PC DMISS and power inspect but working knowledge of others will be taken into consideration and training can be given.

  • Key processes: drilling, countersinking, riveting, use of sealants, fitting helicoils, bearing, bushes etc.

 The hours for this role are compressed over four days working 7:00am-4:30pm Monday - Thursday.

  • SAP MRP System adherence to load and capacity plans

  • Quality Decision making to ensure customer satisfaction on all product treated and despatched

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Application of manual inspection tools to inspect product characteristics including micrometres, verniers, plug gauges.

  • Interpretation of Engineering Technical data include 2D engineering drawings & 3D Models

  • Understanding of MRP Systems (SAP)

  • Previous Aerospace/Automotive sector experience would be advantageous.

  • Observant behaviour to product quality

Main Duties

  • Periodic Testing of laboratory equipment to Quality Management System requirements.

  • Periodic Testing of chemical solutions from manual & automated process lines to ensure stability and compliance to data card and work instruction requirements.

  • Periodic Testing of deionized water supply and rinse tanks to ensure compliance to data card and work instruction requirements.

  • Support surface treatment testing to ensure treatments and coatings meet customer requirements.

We are looking to appoint a First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) Inspector with excellent computer / Microsoft literacy skills and some awareness / experience of manufacturing and exposure to engineering drawings. The candidate will be part of our quality team within our sheet metal and assembly business at our Dukinfield (Cheshire) site.

About the opportunity

As the First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) Inspector you will play an integral part in:

1.    Following a detailed process manual to prepare the files and folder structure for FAIRs.

2.    Submitting the FAIR to clients or uploaded to a portal.

3.    Work closely with the management team to ensure client requirements are met on time.

4.    Maintain a suite of KPIs to track the performance of the FAIR process.

You will develop on existing knowledge and experience, keeping up to date with best practice and participate in internal and external training. You will also work closely with the quality departments from other Hyde business units, clients and suppliers as part of the wider aerospace supply chain.

The role is a good introduction to aerospace quality and a stepping stone to other roles.

Preferred Skills

  • Aerospace / other highly regulated industry experience in a FAIR collation / submission role.

  • A good understanding of manufacturing processes (preferably aerospace sheet metal or assembly).

  • Proven ability to read and understand aerospace sheet metal / assembly drawings and the related tolerances.

  • Experience of manual inspection and the measuring of parts .

  • Expertise in:

  • FAIR collation (typically to AS9102).

  • FAIR review / approval.

  • FAIR submission (via Net-inspect / other.

  • Demonstrated evidence of FAIR experience.

  • Excellent PC / MS products (word/excel/nuance etc) skills.

About the Opportunity

The Quality Engineer function will work closely under the direction of the Quality Manager who is responsible for quality compliance of the organisation to customer and regulatory requirements, on a wide range of quality assurance and control activities to ensure our KPIs are achieved.

Desired Skills

  • Proven track record as a Quality Engineer in either aerospace, nuclear or similarly regulated sector.
